What do you enjoy about researching Kentucky ancestors?

Putting stories to the faces in old family photos, connecting with long-lost cousins, gaining more insight into why we are who we are, and in some cases, unearthing long-buried family secrets.

What’s your favorite suggestion for other Kentucky researchers?

Try name variations when searching for both people and places. Standardized spelling is a relatively modern convention. Research your ancestor’s FAN Club. Records for your ancestor may be elusive, so follow the FAN Club and the migration patterns. It may help you find your missing ancestor.
