Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

These are some of the most questions we are asked most frequently.

Can you help me find information about my Kentucky ancestor?

We regret we are not able to respond to queries about Kentucky ancestors.

Our organization educates genealogists and family researchers by teaching them how to become more effective.
You are invited to join us for $20 annually and you’ll learn a lot about researching in Kentucky.

Can you help me find a professional genealogist?

The society does not endorse individual genealogists, it does maintain a list of member researchers that you may contact.

I can't log in to my account.

If you have forgotten your password or are not able to log in, use the Forgot Your Password? link to reset your password.

How do I renew my membership?

Your membership is valid for 365 days from the time you register or renew.

You can check the status of your membership anytime from the My Account page after you login.

The Membership tab contains your account history as of April 2023.

Fourteen days prior to your membership expiration, we will notify you. We will notify you two more times if you do not renew.

To renew your membership, do the following:

  1. Login to your account.
  2. From the Membership tab, there is a Renew button or a link that allows you to renew.

Note: The renewal link only works when it is closer to your expiration date.

The Society is not able to troubleshoot your technology issues. If you miss the webinar and you are a member, you can watch the video replay the next day.

Prior to the webinar starting, you will receive an email with a link to the webinar and information on how to test your technology for compatibility.

If you have trouble connecting, these steps might help:

  • Close all tabs and restart the web browser.
  • Try a different web browser to see if the same issue occurs.
  • Try rebooting your computer, which sometimes clears audio and video issues.

Here is the GotoWebinar Support Site Troubleshooting page with further information.

If you are struggling with using technology, see if basic computer literacy courses are offered at your local public library.
