Kentucky Genealogical Society celebrates it’s 50th anniversary by awarding grants totaling $13,000 to four digitization projects in Johnson, Marion, Madison, and Hickman counties to make accessible rare, one of a kind records of genealogical significance to Kentucky family historians.
The Kentucky Digitization Grant Program gets rare one of a kind Kentucky records of genealogical value digitized and accessible for researchers. In four years since its inception, it has funded eleven digitization projects in ten Kentucky counties. Paper is brittle and as the devastating of climate change have proven, original records can be only one fire, flood, or tornado from being lost forever.
Once digitized, these Kentucky records with genealogical value are placed upon a public website and made accessible to researchers all over the globe. The program is funded by the generosity of the members of the Kentucky Genealogical Society. Proceeds from the sale of the book will fund further digitization efforts. [Some of our past projects.]
