It’s the perfect season to cozy up with a great book! If you enjoy stories about how genetic genealogy is used to solve crimes, we’d love for you to join our Winter Book Club. The club meets virtually twice:

- Monday, February 24 at 7:00 PM Eastern
The Winter Book Club is open to all Kentucky Genealogical Society members. (Not a member yet? Joining is simple and costs just $20.) Spaces are limited to 15 participants to ensure active discussion, so sign up quickly—first come, first served!
The Details:
Session 1: I Know Who You Are by Barbara Rae-Venter
- Date: Monday, January 27
- Description: This memoir by a leading genetic genealogy pioneer chronicles her groundbreaking work identifying the Golden State Killer. While the book briefly references the killer’s crimes, the focus is on her innovative detective work.
Session 2: The Chester Creek Murders by Nathan Dylan Goodwin
- Date: Monday, February 24
- Description: A fictional account of how genetic genealogy is used to crack cold cases.
Requirements:
To keep discussions engaging, we ask that participants commit to reading each book in full before the respective session.
(Note: This book club emphasizes the human stories behind genetic genealogy rather than the technical science. For a deeper dive into the nuts and bolts of genetic genealogy, consider joining our Front Porch Talk group on “All Things DNA,” which meets on the 3rd Thursday of every month.)
