Who We Are
The Kentucky Genealogical Society is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization run by Kentucky family researchers since 1973. As part of our mission, we seek ways to connect and educate our members about Kentucky and it’s rich past.
Our members have a common interest in learning more about their Kentucky ancestors, studying Kentucky family history, and sharing knowledge with other family historians.
With over 1,500 worldwide members, we offer many opportunities to connect with researchers who have a genealogical interest in Kentucky.
Virtual Society
We are a virtual genealogical society. We do not own a building. We do not have employees. We receive no government funding.
Excellence in Research
We provide educational programs and projects that preserve, produce, and disseminate knowledge about Kentucky.
Volunteer Run
We are an all-volunteer society. This genealogical society accomplishes everything through the kindness of our members.
Global Networking
We bring together Kentucky family researchers from around the world to promote fellowship and networking.
Preservation
Encourage the preservation and availability of Kentucky records that are essential to genealogical and historical research through our Grant Digitization program.
Inclusion
We are committed to creating an inclusive learning environment for all Kentucky genealogical researchers. The Society strives to offer a wide array of topics that support the varied Kentuckian experience and highlight the kaleidoscope of humans.
