Memorial and Estate Gifts
To leave a legacy to honor you or your loved one's commitment to genealogy and family history long after a person's death, please consider a memorial gift or estate gift to the Kentucky Genealogical Society.

Memorial Gifts
When a loved one dies, encourage friends, family, and others to make a memorial donation instead of sending floral arrangements. Here are two examples of phrases appropriate for use in an obituary:

  • Memorial gifts to celebrate the life of [insert name] may be given to Kentucky Genealogical Society, P.O. Box 54704, Lexington, Kentucky 40555-4704.
  • Family history was important to [Insert name]. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Kentucky Genealogical Society, P.O. Box 54704, Lexington, Kentucky 40555-4704, or donate online below.

If you include the Kentucky Genealogical Society in your loved one's obituary, let us know and we will send you an acknowledgment of the donations received in memory of your loved one.

Planned Estate Gifts
To support the mission of the Kentucky Genealogical Society long after your passing, leave a planned estate gift in your last will and testament. A planned estate gift will not alter your current lifestyle and will not affect your current asset balance or cash flow. Here are some examples of language you can use in your last will and testament:

  • Unrestricted Gift – "I give, devise, and bequeath to the Kentucky Genealogical Society, a Kentucky non-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization, the sum of $_________dollars at the time of my death."
  • Specific Percentage – "I give, devise, and bequeath to the Kentucky Genealogical Society, a Kentucky nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, an amount equal to _______% of the value of my estate at the time of my death."
  • Residual Bequest – "I give, devise, and bequeath all of the residual of my estate, both real and personal, to the Kentucky Genealogical Society, a Kentucky nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization."

Please let the Kentucky Genealogical Society know if you include us in your last will and testament.
