MMWhat We Are Seeking
Our grant projects must relate to Kentucky records of genealogical significance. A few examples of potential projects may include:
- Adoption records
- Church records
- Funeral home records
- Newspapers
- Trade or vocational records or directories
- School records
- Yearbooks
- Manuscripts
Eligible Grant Applicants
- Must have tax-exempt status (501(c)(3)) or be a Kentucky public county or city library
- Must have as a primary purpose the preservation of historical records to make them available to the public
- must be incorporated and in existence for three years prior to application, and may be in-state or out-of-state organizations
Ineligible Grant Applicants
- federal government entities
- state government entities
Projects
- must relate directly to the preservation of Kentucky historical records of genealogical significance
- record set(s) must be primarily focused on Kentucky people, organizations, or places of genealogical significance
- must adhere to professional archival standards for the care, preparation, and storage of materials
- must follow Digitization Guidelines located at: http://www.ala.org/alcts/resources/preserv/ minimum-digitization-capture-recommendations
- must be completed and delivered to the Kentucky Genealogical Society within one year
