What You Will Learn

This presentation will trace the steps to join a lineage society like the DAR (among hundreds of others), including the reasons for and benefits of that pursuit and typical qualifications and requirements. The presenter will also share her experience in joining several lineage organizations and offer ways to handle challenges which she encountered along the way including the use of FamilySearch’s Full Text Search tool.

Speaker

Susan J. Court, M.A., J.D., genealogist and family historian, is a Director-at-Large and immediate past Co-President of the Kentucky Genealogical Society, and is a frequent speaker at genealogy conferences, a teacher of genealogy, and the author of 13 family histories and 22 genealogy or history articles. She is a member of several other genealogical or historical societies and four lineage organizations (National Society United States Daughters of 1812, Jamestowne Society, The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, and Kentucky Spirits).
