Kentucke Becomes Kentucky: A Review of the Road to Statehood

This webinar will focus on learning objectives regarding the historical context of the founding of Kentucky and early records.

What You Will Learn

On June 1, 1792 Kentucky became the 15th State admitted into the new nation of the United States of America and the first West of the Alleghenies. The distinction marked the region’s official delineation from Virginia and was the culmination of 8 years of planning. It is also an important distinction to note when Kentucky became a creator of its own records. Participants in this webinar will learn about what those records included and how to navigate them, as well as get an overview of some of the records that predate statehood and document those early settlers of the region.
