DESCRIPTION:What You Will Learn\nThe US National Archives (NARA) recently digitized and released its complete collection of NSDAP member cards on its website. This is a milestone event for German historians and genealogists alike: previously\, the viewing of these records required an in-person visit to NARA or a formal written request to the German Federal Archives. This talk will provide the essential historical context behind the cards and provide a step-by-step walkthrough of the digital tools you need to locate specific individuals. \nSpeaker\nElizabeth Allen-Pennebaker\, DPhil\, is the Vice President of the Kentucky Genealogical Society. Her deep connection to German history began with family stories of her mother’s childhood experiences as the daughter of US diplomats in 1939 Vienna. This sparked a lifelong fascination\, leading to an MA in German from the University of Vermont\, followed by a Master of Studies in European Literature (with distinction) and a doctorate from the University of Oxford\, all specializing in Austrian Studies.
