About KGS

The Kentucky Genealogical Society was organized in 1973 to foster excellence in genealogy through educational programs and projects that preserve, produce, and disseminate knowledge of genealogical or historical value.
Board members are elected in November of even-numbered years to serve a two-year term. The term of current board members started 1 January 2016 and continue through 31 December 2017.

This happy group of volunteers posed for a photo after the KGS Board swearing-in ceremony in Frankfort recently. Seven people in the photo have served on the board for two years or longer, and one is new to the board this year. Back row, left to right: Paul Gregory, vice president for administration; Cynthia Maharrey, member at large (new to the board); Dudley Ellis, treasurer; Linda Colston, immediate past president; Kathy Moats, corresponding secretary. Front row: Rosemary McFarland, vice president for membership; Johnna Waldon, president; Jodi Roessler, board member at large. Member at large Christopher Padgett and recording secretary Katie Wilson, both new to the board, were unable to attend. We’ll post their photos soon.
